The YMCA Makes a Positive Impact
Making a Positive Impact for Kids
- The YMCA provides programs and services to almost 51,000 local youth and teens
- Over 11,000 children participate in YMCA swim lessons and water safety classes every year
- Over 3,000 children participate in Y-Active where they learn the value of a healthy lifestyle
- Almost 2,000 youth and teens received life-changing experience at Camp Shady Brook
- Over 11,000 children developed skills and learned the value of sportsmanship through YMCA youth sports
Making a Positive Impact for Families
- Over 16,000 families and children under the age of 18 are involved in programs and activities at the YMCA annually
- Almost 20,000 weeks of safe and licensed before and after school child care is provided to local children
- Every year over 12,000 local military personnel, spouses and children are served through military family outreach programs of the Armed Services YMCA
- The YMCA provides at least $1.3 million of financial assistance and program subsidy to help ensure that lower-income youth, teens and families can participate in YMCA programs and services
Making a Positive Impact for our Community
- Through initiatives such as Activate America and Pioneering Healthy Communities the YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region is providing leadership and resources to address critical health issues facing our community
- For over 130 years the YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region has been a leader in providing innovative responses that address community issues
- The YMCA involved almost 108,000 local people in programs that enhanced their spirit, challenged their minds, and strengthened their bodies
- Through the leadership of over 1,700 local volunteers the YMCA delivers programs to all segments of the community in the most cost-effective manner possible
- The YMCA focuses on how we can better serve the 60% of our community who need support in achieving their wellness goals
